Well, Christopher Kolanus and the MAD-HOP crew have gathered another motley crew of beatmakers and producers from around the world for Volume 3 of MAD-HOP. It’s like the little Last.fm group that could, you know. Gathering music from around the world and with so many flavors to choose from, here’s a couple of tastes from England’s Ambassadeurs and Japan’s Lambent from the release. It’s a free download at Bandcamp.com. File this release under “wonky” and “glitchy”.
Taking a series of sounds and loops to create works that sound like miniature independent film scores, Austin’s own soundfounder shows us the makings of the Complete Dream Home, his new limited edition physical release on (iN)Sect Records. The project is also available at iTunes digitally. Join me at the release party for the project tonight in Austin. Also enjoy the GLM/Exploded Drawing/(iN)Sect Records podcast including tracks from Complete Dream Home.
Mokhov simply never sleeps. That’s what I figure, at least. He’s just released a new remix EP from the Montreal artist, Graciellita. His comparsions are that her sound is close to Bonobo or Bjork. My take is that she’s vocally closer to Abra Moore and Blossom Dearie. Po-tay-to, Pa-TA-to. The production is the news because Mokhov just knows how to give his remixes enough spice and space for the lead vocals. It’s free as a bird. Enjoy.

Last month, I wrote that I really dig Smoke Room‘s beats. Well, he’s now turned me on to Nvthlss from France. This guy captured my heart with a little ditty invoking some Gil-Scott Heron. The track, “For My Brothers”, has made me a fan.
Last goody to share is Karsh Kale in honor of his performance tomorrow night in Dallas brought to you in part from the good people of Banjos to Beats. Stream tracks from his latest work, Cinema, including the downloadable, “Malika Jam”. Enjoy!
