Listening to Backwords’ fourth and latest set, By The Neck, is like flipping a book of Instagram photos; new pictures that look classic. The tone for this late 60′s/early 70′s flavored project is one part campfire folk (and country) and one part psych rock, all served in a thick reverberated wash. My TuneCrush is the track, “Naked Flame”, which in my mind sounds like an inspired toke meeting between Neil Young and The Free Design (circa There Is A Song). By The Neck is slated to release on March 6, 2012 and can be pre-ordered now on Bandcamp.com.
