Grant Andrew – Deep Brewed Life
With a pop/folk style akin to the storytellers like Pierce Pettis, Mark Heard, and the late Rich Mullins, Grant Andrew’s Deep Brewed Life explores a life that’s open to fuller relationships with humanity as a spiritual quest. It also happens to be a Kickstarter success story, receiving 100% of the requested funding to complete the album. Starting with off the AC/rocker, “Called Me”, dealing with the distance of an estranged father who’s finally reaching on his own, the guitars seem to mirror the expression on the chorus, “I have been angry ’bout the history / today I’m thankful you called me”. The guitars turn up a bit more in “Kick Me Out of the Game”, using a sports analogy to acknowledge that sometimes the penalty of being forced to sit out an inning (or quarter or for the whole game) can help regain focus.
For the majority of the project, the musical production is more AC/pop/country as Andrew expresses love for his wife (“What Kind of God”), his heroes (“Giants”), and renewed vision (“Clear My Eyes”). The disc and/or download of the project is available now via his website.
