TuneCrush: BoomBaptist “Cheesy Does It”

JW Richard April 12, 2012 2

Austin, Texas-based producer, BoomBaptist, reaches into his archive of early MPC experiments and brings the best to boil. The result is The Lost Files: 2003 – 2005, utilizing several 70′s/80′s jazz and R&B samples for the foundation of the grooves. He even brings his own beatboxing and vocal sampling into the mix. I like “Cheesy Does It” because it’s a jazz sweet spot for me that feels like an ABC Records or CTI Records release circa 1977 or 1978 and completely not cheesy. The whole disc has some fun cuts to hear and you can “name your price” for this project now at Bandcamp.

Bonus: Check this quick vid of BoomBaptist “spitting” something quick.
